Raised in a little village on the Exmoor coast in Devon, I grew up surrounded by clean air, fresh surf and beauty in my surroundings. I have painted since I was a child and the natural environment has guided e as much today as it did then.
I moved to West Yorkshire in 2001 and found the change in scenery enriched my appreciation of the variety of the British countryside.
Today I am based in the Calder Valley which has an incredibly talented and diverse art community. My studio is based in Todmorden, overlooked by the iconic Stoodley Pike. You can also find me at the Hebden Bridge art and craft market every Saturday.
I generally work from sketches and photographs, intermingling ideas and compositions to create a painting that is not only loose, with energy and movement, but also captures the character of the animal itself. Watercolour is the medium I prefer, however, you will often find me throwing soft pastel and inks into the mix. I let the painting guide me rather than follow convention.
Enjoy looking through my website and please contact me if there is anything you would like to discuss.
